Centro Cultural Madrid opened during Lorca Year 2019, an event honoring the famed Spanish poet, playwright, and theater director, Federico García Lorca, commemorating the 100th anniversary of his arrival in the city. Lorca was notably a member of the Generation of '27, an influential group of poets who infused European symbolism and surrealism into the Spanish arts, and his legacy continues to inspire the city.
Honoring such a legacy might seem a hard task, but this tiny, intimate tablao has found the perfect way to do it. It is designed to bring the audience as close to the performance as possible, eliminating amplifiers and technical grandeur and delivering its act in its rawest, purest form.
